The Baking Club

When playing a late Autumn fixture in a church hall you should bring an extra layer of clothing, suitable for fighting off two and a half hours’ worth of cold at the chess board. For Anstey’s new venue, a Methodist Church in the centre of the village, just bring t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops. It is that sweltering.

Off the mark

One of the “Shepshed twins” made the long trip to Harborough for the first team's inaugural home match in what was a very quiet upstairs Committee Room. No rock and roll this Thursday!

On the 14th of October, Market Harborough made the south to north trip to play Ashby for their division 3 match.

New Promise

When Covid halted over the board chess in March 2020, Market Harborough 3 were marooned at the foot of Division Five. The basement boys of Leicestershire and Rutland. Played 13, won 2, drew 2 lost 9.

More than 500 days have elapsed since the wide acceptance of a global pandemic, and it is roughly the same amount of time since the Market Harborough Chess Club has seen over-the-board competitive chess.
